Question Greetings.

Question) Why there are two difference ESD standards namely;
                1) S20.20 &
                2) EIA 625A
It seem to me the above two ESD standard are addressing "more or less" the same industry ESD requiprement

You are correct as the information is very similar with only a few differences. JESD 625A [was EIA 625] is fine, but since ANSI/ESD S20.20 has the American National Standards Institute designation, we recommend using ANSI/ESD S20.20 for developing your ESD control program.  Also, IEC TR 61340-5-1 is primarily used in Europe.

ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999 which has since been updated to ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007 can be downloaded at no charge from www.ESDA.org.

In 2000 Dave Swenson wrote “In 1990, the industry had no ESD-related handling practice documents that enjoyed widespread acceptance. In the ensuing 10 years, various groups developed such handling practices, which are gaining in acceptance. Readers should become familiar with three documents that will affect the industry for many years. These documents are
