Question How do we test ESD Flooring installed in a factory?
Answer

Rtg with one 5# electrode, with other lead to equipment ground per ESD TR53 which states “Tests should include those ESD flooring areas that are subject to wear or are visibly dirty.”

For troubleshooting, measuring just the surface resistance of the floor material, measure Rtt with two 5# electrodes about 3 feet apart.

The Compliance Verification ESD TR53 test procedure is a simplified test from the Floor standard ANSI/ESD S7.1.

The required limit for Flooring per ANSI/ESD S20.20 is < 1 x 10^9 ohms.

There is also Flooring/Footwear.  The required limit is less than 3.5 X 10^7 ohms or passing both of these tests:
less than 1.0 X 10^9 ohms
AND also passing voltage on person test less than 100 volts

We recommend users do this product qualification testing at least once:

Measure Rtg through ESD footwear & person to electrical ground using Desco 19780 Surface Resistance Test Kit. Reference ANSI/ESD STM97.1 (Floor Materials and Footwear-Voltage Measurement in Combination with a Person). Have person, standing on an ESD floor wearing ESD footwear, hold one 5# electrode in palm of hand.

Measure voltage on person wearing ESD footwear moving on ESD floor using Ionization Test Kit with HBM Fixture.  Reference ANSI/ESD STM97.2

(Floor Materials and Footwear-Voltage Measurement in Combination with a Person).
